Shellpoint Mortgage Servicing (SMS) is one of America’s top-five non-bank mortgage-servicing companies. What is mortgage servicing? Our clients are businesses that own mortgage loans (such as banks and real estate investment firms). On their behalf, we manage (or "service") their loan portfolios, which means that we collect homeowners’ mortgage payments, pay their tax and insurance bills, and help homeowners in default to get current.
The individual selected for the job will create and manage the functions of the investor reporting department such that they are in agreement with company goals. The individual will also ensure client satisfaction by working with external clients to provide the level of reporting desired. The individual will also ensure the positive perception of the department to our internal clients but focusing on team growth and development while at the same time mentoring those on the team with high potential.
Conduct oneself in a manner that reflects positively on the company in general and the department in particular, including professional, timely, and detailed responses to internal and external communication, and arriving timely to all meetings and calls.
Manage and oversee identification of issues that will improve operational efficiency, reduce loss and minimize risk in reporting and portfolio oversight.
Work with Loan Servicing, Capital Markets, Data Analytics, etc. to resolve any reporting/portfolio issues.
Manage all the Investor Reporting team’s daily and monthly data that is reported with a high rate of accuracy according to all requirements (SLAs with external investors and vendors) and within established timelines. Ensure the company remains in good standing at all times.
Initiate wire requests utilizing the ‘wire request tool’ for both internal and external money movement as it relates to the monthly files.
Build a strong rapport with key individuals and/or groups (Investor Accounting, Finance, Capital Markets, etc.) on all account and portfolio reconciliation items. These may include P&I, T&I, service fee, corporate advance, timing advance, and operating accounts.
Ensure the department’s management tools are consistently used by all members of the department including the remit tracking tool, the loan research tool, and the investor reporting dashboard.
Maintain data integrity of the remit tracking tool by coordinating with the legal department to include the terms and SLAs of any new contracts.
Provide direction, leadership, training, motivation, coaching and assessment to ensure optimum performance in support of company and department goals.
Facilitate team meetings to broaden the team’s understanding of the mortgage industry in general and our company in particular.
Set and communicate yearly goals for the individuals in the department.
Manage all other investor reporting analysts as direct reports.
Collaborate with upper management, internal departments and/or analysts to ensure overall company goals are consistently met.
Administer quarterly client questionnaires to gauge the level of satisfaction with the work being done by the investor reporting department.
Remain current on all mortgage servicing compliance, regulations, and applicable laws that affect investor reporting and operations. Advise management of any industry/operational changes.
Assist with any internal or external audit requests related to investor reporting.
Deep understanding of mortgage loan sales and investor reporting best practices
Strong understanding of Test of Cash and Mortgage Portfolio/Custodial Reconciliation
Results-oriented with a sense of urgency
3-5 years of Investor Reporting experience, which includes 1-2 years in a management role leading at least 2 people
Bachelor’s Degree in an analytical, quantitative, or financial discipline and one year of experience as an analyst in a mortgage servicing setting (a graduate degree may be considered as contributing towards work experience).
Strong business communication skills with an ability to work well in a collaborative environment including other internal departments.
Strong attention to detail with an ability to multi-task and respond well to pressure and competing deadlines.
Intermediate to Advance skills in Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, and other formulas).
Fast learner - able to assimilate new ideas and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Prior work experience performing business, data, and/or statistical analysis is a plus.
Prior SQL or other programming experience is a plus.
Prior experience with PowerPoint and Visio is a plus.
Natural entrepreneurial interest is a plus.
Prior management experience is a plus.
