Shellpoint Mortgage Servicing (SMS) is one of America’s top-five non-bank mortgage-servicing companies. What is mortgage servicing? Our clients are businesses that own mortgage loans (such as banks and real estate investment firms). On their behalf, we manage (or "service") their loan portfolios, which means that we collect homeowners’ mortgage payments, pay their tax and insurance bills, and help homeowners in default to get current.
 

Primary Function

The Special Loans Specialist - Master Servicing is responsible for reviewing, updating, and researching complicated non-fixed rate loan products such as adjustable-rate mortgages (ARMs), Commercial Loans, Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOCs), Daily Simple Interest (DSI) loans, Balloon loans, and modifications, Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA), among other responsibilities.

In addition, this person will be responsible for reviewing new loans as they board to the Master Servicing system for completeness and reasonableness based on a set of predetermined standards. Any exceptions are researched and updated accordingly.

Principal Duties:

  • Work with internal and external partners when variances between Master Servicing and the Servicer are identified.
  • Research Mortgage Notes, Servicer Billing statements, and Servicer histories to research loan variances.
  • Update Indexes daily.
  • Monitor the status of ARM loans; assists in resolving servicing transfer/loan setup; research ARM loan payment histories.
  • Perform document to data reviews to ensure proper servicing of various loan types and ensuring adherence to investor and regulatory guidelines.
  • Review modifications received from the Servicer and update Master Servicing system.
  • Conducts special projects as assigned by Special Loans management.
  • Calculate loan amortizations to correct posting errors by Servicers.
  • Supports management in achieving goals and improving the efficiency/productivity of the department.
  • Complete data edits on incoming loans to ensure the accuracy of the data using loans images,
  • Completes miscellaneous tasks as necessary or required.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred.
  • 2-4 years’ experience in the mortgage industry.
  • 2-4 years’ experience in master servicing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong business communication skills with an ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong skills in Excel.
  • Experience with residential mortgage servicing or master servicing.
  • Knowledge of SBO.net is preferred.

Base Compensation:

53,700.00 - 72,100.00 USD Annual

Additional Compensation:

In addition to base compensation, the individual in this position will be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
