Job Summary
The position involves accounting for a variety of mortgage loan transactions within the NewRez loan origination accounting team. Transaction details come from various sources and require advanced spreadsheet skills to summarize, track and reconcile. Other general accounting duties may be assigned as needed.
Primary Job Functions
Assume responsibility for reconciling and recording mortgage loan transactions related to various mortgage warehouse lines of credit, and related bank account activity.
Manage the journal entry processes related to these transactions, automated through the CMS and GLS loan systems - participate in driving further automation as needed.
Prepare various journal entries and account reconciliations related to mortgage loan origination activity.
Maintain spreadsheet models and reports used in the accounting process.
Interact with Originations Operations and Servicing business partners to investigate and resolve reconciliation variances.
Ability to understand process flow and how your tasks affect the larger picture.
Work with our business partners in Operations and Servicing to resolve issues and build efficiencies.
Work with internal and external auditors and various state examiners to provide accurate and complete information timely.
Prepare various financial reporting information as required for statutory and compliance related reporting.
Education, Experience and Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
1-3 years of related accounting experience required.
Mortgage Loan Accounting experience preferred.
Mortgage industry experience preferred.
Very proficient in Microsoft Excel. Data base experience a plus.
Must have very strong analytical and reconciliation skills using advanced spreadsheet functions.
Must be able to understand complex transactions, with strong attention to detail.
Team oriented with ability to interact within and outside of the organization.
Ability to self-motivate and flexibility to collaborate with business associates in a remote workforce if needed.
Must be able to handle multiple priorities and meet daily deadlines with quality in a fast-paced, very complex environment.
